The Dayton Foundation Launches ScholarshipCONNECT - A New Online Scholarship and College Readiness Resource
The Dayton Foundation, in cooperation with Learn to Earn Dayton, is pleased to announce the launch of ScholarshipCONNECT, a new online scholarship and college readiness resource to help Greater Dayton students in their quest to attend college. Students may access the resource by clicking on the "ScholarshipCONNECT" button on the Foundation’s home page, located at www.daytonfoundation.org or by clicking here.
The resource features a scholarship search and application system. This system uses a detailed questionnaire to match students, based upon their educational interests and background, among other things, with more than 130 scholarships available through The Dayton Foundation and education foundations that are part of the Foundation.
Through ScholarshipCONNECT, students and parents can help plan and pay for college by accessing links to online financial aid, scholarship and loan resources and tools, such as a college debt calculator and the Ohio Board of Regents' new Ohio Means Success website. Students and families also can find links to other local scholarship programs, including the Dayton-Montgomery County Scholarship Program, a component fund of The Dayton Foundation since 2006. In fiscal year 2011-2012, The Dayton Foundation and the Dayton-Montgomery County Scholarship Program awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships to help nearly 1,300 students advance their educational goals.
"We're very excited about this new service for Greater Dayton students and their families," said Michael M. Parks, president of The Dayton Foundation. "ScholarshipCONNECT will make it quicker and easier for students to match their educational interests with available scholarships and apply online for multiple scholarships at the same time."
Said Dr. Thomas J. Lasley II, executive director of Learn to Earn Dayton and the former dean of the University of Dayton School of Education and Allied Professions, "Affordability is a big part of ensuring that young people successfully complete a college degree. ScholarshipCONNECT is going to be a wonderful resource for students who are trying to identify appropriate scholarship and loan options that will help them successfully complete a college degree without needless debt."
The deadline to submit a completed ScholarshipCONNECT online application questionnaire for scholarships for the 2013-14 school year is March 22, 2013.
The Dayton Foundation is the regional community foundation for Greater Dayton. Since 1921, the Foundation has helped people to help others, managing charitable funds that have provided over 225,000 grants totaling more than a half-billion dollars to nonprofits over its 92-year history.^ top of page
