The Dayton Foundation Wins National Award For Outstanding Communications
For the seventh consecutive year, The Dayton Foundation has been named an award winner for excellence in communications by the national Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations, the premiere professional organization for all foundations in the U.S. and abroad, this national awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs.
The Dayton Foundation received the 2010 Silver Award in the magazine and periodicals category for Good News, the Foundation’s general newsletter. The Dayton Foundation competed against the largest of more than 700 community foundations across the United States and abroad (foundations over $250 million in assets). The award will be presented next month at the Council on Foundations' 61th Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado.
"The Foundation is honored to once again receive national recognition for excellence in communications," said Michael M. Parks, president of The Dayton Foundation. "Effective communications are vital to the Foundation’s goals of helping our constituents to help others and of providing public accountability."
Since 1921 The Dayton Foundation has been helping people help others in the Dayton community and beyond. The Dayton Foundation helps donors find the best and most tax-wise ways to achieve their charitable objectives, invests and manages donors' charitable funds, and provides grants and leadership to grow philanthropy and help meet present and future community needs.^ top of page
IN HIS WORDS
“Towards the end of Cindy’s life, she asked me, ‘After I'm gone, what will there be to say that I was here?’ Establishing this fund was her way to continue reaching out and touching children’s lives, as she did throughout her lifetime.” – John Edgar, donor, on the Remar Family and John and Cindy Edgar Endowment Fund
