Greater Dayton Partners for the Environment Announce Partner of the Year Awards
The Greater Dayton Partners for the Environment has announced the recipients of the First Annual Partner of the Year awards. These awards recognize individuals who work to protect, preserve, and restore the environmental and agricultural resources of the Great Miami River and Little Miami River Watersheds.
The Greater Dayton Partners for the Environment is an alliance of organizations that share the common goal of protecting, restoring, preserving, and promoting the environmental and agricultural resources of the Great Miami River and Little Miami River Watersheds. The Dayton Foundation, The Miami Conservancy District, Five Rivers MetroParks and The Greater Dayton Conservation Fund are sponsoring this effort for the purpose of improving the capacity and effectiveness of local organizations and programs.
The 2011 Individual of the Year award was presented to Aaron Rourke, chief organizer of the 105-mile Little Miami River Clean Sweep, the first full-length clean-up of the Little Miami River in 40 years.
The 2011 Partner of the Year award was presented to the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District for its leadership in conserving and protecting the agricultural and natural resources of Hamilton County.
Lifetime Achievement Awards also were presented to Dane Mutter for his contributions to protecting the natural resources of the Miami Valley and to Donald Geiger for his commitment and service to conservation, education and community action.
The Dayton Foundation is the regional community foundation for Greater Dayton. Since 1921, the Foundation has helped people to help others. The Dayton Foundation has helped caring individuals to establish and manage charitable funds and be part of the Foundation’s 90-year history of awarding to nonprofits over 225,000 grants totaling more than a half-billion dollars.
