Regina Dixon joined The Dayton Foundation staff in 1987 as the receptionist/administrative assistant. During that time, she was the fifth employee on staff at the Foundation and served under the Foundation’s first full-time director, Fred Bartenstein.
Over the past 37 years, Regina has continued to serve the Foundation with excellence and professionalism. Now in the role of receptionist, Regina has become affectionately known as “the face of the Foundation,” being the first face to greet visitors upon their arrival to the Foundation and the friendly voice individuals hear when they contact the Foundation via phone. Among other tasks, Regina maintains the Foundation’s office supplies, trains new staff on how to use the new equipment and organizes its daily mail functions.
According to Regina, her experience at the Foundation has given her the opportunity to learn more about giving back to the community. Additionally, she’s learned the importance of being a philanthropist, as well as gained the personal satisfaction of giving the gift of helping others.
“I have learned how important The Dayton Foundation is to the Miami Valley community and the surrounding area. Working at the Foundation has been an educational experience that I, perhaps, could not have received from any college or university; however, it will last a lifetime.”
