Dayton Foundation Names New Governing Board Chair
The Dayton Foundation has named J. Norman Eckstein, senior vice president of Brower Insurance, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC Company, as the new chair to its Governing Board, which provides stewardship for the Foundation and its charitable activities. Eckstein succeeds outgoing Chair Ellen S. Ireland and will serve an 18-month term.
“I am pleased to welcome Norm Eckstein as The Dayton Foundation’s new Governing Board Chair,” said Michael M. Parks, president of The Dayton Foundation. “His vast community experience and wise leadership will be a great asset to the Foundation.”
A Dayton Foundation donor years before joining the Governing Board in 2011, Eckstein most recently served as Board vice chair, chair of the Foundation’s Development Committee and a member of the Executive Committee.
Eckstein’s strong commitment to doing good for the region is evident in his many community activities, as well as in his involvement with The Dayton Foundation. He currently serves on the boards for The Hundred Club of Dayton and the YMCA of Greater Dayton, where he has been a board member for more than 30 years and is a past chairman. He also serves as the co-chair of the Leadership Council that brought Miami Valley Works, a poverty-to-work community leadership initiative of The Dayton Foundation, to fruition.
He previously served as a president and board member for Jaycee Towers Housing, Inc., board member for The Children’s Medical Center, Goodwill Easter Seals of the Miami Valley and St. Joseph Children’s Treatment Center.
