Ruth Richardson was an educator and a counselor who inspired her students throughout her career with the Dayton Public Schools. She reinforced to her students the value of a college education. However, many of her students were unable to attend college due to financial hardships. Ruth personally sought contributions from the Dayton business community to create scholarships for her students beginning in the 1980''s. Over the years, with the help of donors, these funds grew into the Dayton-Montgomery County Scholarship Foundation. Ruth was an active member of the Altrusa Club of Dayton who consistently provided community service and leadership for many creative learning programs. The Altrusa Club of Dayton created this scholarship in Ruth''s honor.
