Alleen O. McCoy Scholarship
The Alleen O. McCoy Memorial Scholarship was established in 2024 by the family of Alleen McCoy as a means honor the remarkable legacy she left behind. A retired educator renowned for her unwavering dedication to learning, reading and the advancement of education, Ms. McCoy inspired countless students and colleagues with her passion for teaching and her commitment to fostering a love for reading and intellectual growth. The Alleen O. McCoy Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who embodies Alleen’s spirit of academic excellence and commitment to learning. Preference is given to students who are pursuing higher education at a historically Black college or university. This scholarship aims to support and encourage future leaders within our community who are inspired by Alleen’s legacy and who are committed to making a positive impact through education.
Applicants must:
- be a graduate from a Dayton Public High School planning to attend or currently enrolled in a four-year college or university.
Preference will be given to students going to an HBCU. Financial need will be considered if all else is equal.
