Oakwood Schools Foundation - Honorable Elizabeth Simms Gutmann Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2017 to celebrate the Honorable Elizabeth Simms Gutmann's 30-year career of public service. She served as the Miami County Municipal Judge for 18 years, preceded by 12 years as both a Public Defender in Shelby County and later as a Prosecutor for the City of Piqua. Judge Gutmann graduated from Oakwood High School in 1975. The scholarship is for a senior graduating from Oakwood High School and planning to major in a public service-related field.
Applicants must:
- be a graduating senior from Oakwood High School,
- be accepted to an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time student,
- plan to pursue a degree in a public service field, such as law, law enforcement, social work or education, and
- have participated in community service activities.
Financial need will be considered if all else is equal.
