PFLAG Dayton LGBTQ+ and Ally Scholarship

PFLAG Dayton is creating a caring, just and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. As one of 400 chapters within a national organization, they are committed to building a community of love through support, education and advocacy. One of the unique ways they lead with love in the Miami Valley is through their scholarship program. The scholarship program began in 2000 as a simple way to encourage the work of LGBTQ+ youth and their allies in the ongoing fight for inclusiveness. The program has grown significantly over the years and now includes four different awards that assist outstanding graduates with continuing their education at accredited colleges, universities or vocational institutions.

Applicants must:

  • be 17 years old or older by the application deadline
  • be a graduate of a high school in the Miami Valley,
  • be accepted to or currently attending an accredited two-or four-year college, university or trade school (min. 9 credits),
  • demonstrate participation and leadership in community activities with integrity and honesty,
  • foster a positive image of LGBTQ+ people and their allies, and
  • be actively involved as a member, leader or volunteer in at least one of the following:
    • campus or community-based LGBTQ+ club/organization,
