Karen Gruenberg joined The Dayton Foundation in 2021 and now is the community engagement program officer. In her role, she manages several grants and leads community initiatives and not-for-profit grant information orientations.
Karen grew up as an army brat and moved around the United States and Germany. She graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, with a BS in hospitality management. Karen has a wide variety of business experience - from hospitality management to sales and customer relations. After moving to Dayton in 2009, Karen became an active volunteer with Mothers of Preschoolers, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, Boy Scouts of America Miami Valley Council, and many other local nonprofits and PTO programs. Karen values friendships and making connections. She approaches life by being a connecter of people and businesses, which she feels is the bedrock of a healthy and strong community.
