The Dayton Foundation Appoints Lori Kershner to Its Governing Board

(September 26, 2024) The Dayton Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Lori Kershner to its Governing Board. The Board provides stewardship for the Foundation and its more than 4,100 charitable funds. Kershner will serve a five-year term.

Kershner is the founder and president of LMK Advocacy, a full-service government affairs consulting firm. Before entering the private sector, Kershner worked in various governmental areas, including the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office and the Ohio House of Representatives, where she worked as a legislative aide for the Chairman of the Health Committee. Following her work in the legislature, Kershner lobbied on behalf of the Ohio State Medical Association, representing 15,000 physicians to the General Assembly. Additionally, former Governor John Kasich appointed Kershner to serve on the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council, where she served for seven years.

Kershner’s strong commitment to the region and the state is evident in her many volunteer activities. Currently, she serves as the Expansion Committee chair and former chair for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton’s Board of Trustees and as a member of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Executive Committee. Previously, she was co-chair and founder of the Executive Women’s Council for the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, board member for the Dayton Art Institute, and member and chair of the Junior League of Dayton’s 90th Anniversary. She also was a member of the Springboro City Council and the Global Chapter Leader for EBW (Empowering a Billion Women) 2020, an organization with a mission to create a sustainable future for women through financial empowerment.

In 2019, Kershner was honored as a Woman to Watch by the Better Business Bureau’s Women in Business Networking. She also was recognized as a 40 Under 40 honoree by the Dayton Business Journal in 2008 and was runner-up for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year in 2011.
