Thank You to Jeanne Holihan, Recently Retired Senior Vice President of Operations
Jeanne Holihan, senior vice president of Operations, recently retired after eight years of service with The Dayton Foundation. Jeanne’s leadership and dedication throughout her professional career and volunteer work is the embodiment of the Foundation’s mission of “We help you help others.”

Jeanne began her tenure with the Foundation in 2016 as senior fellow for the Del Mar Encore Fellows, a community leadership initiative that engages highly skilled older adults in addressing high-impact community efforts carried out by Dayton-area nonprofits. Jeanne, who previously served more than 20 years in a variety of roles with The Dayton Power and Light Company, assumed the role of vice president of Operations for the Foundation in 2018 and later was promoted to senior vice president. In this role, Jeanne helped to streamline processes and increase efficiencies, which proved invaluable during the Foundation’s response to the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes, the Oregon District mass shooting and the COVID-19 pandemic. Under her guidance, the Foundation established charitable funds that distributed more than $9.9 million to support tornado relief and recovery efforts, individuals and families most impacted by the Oregon District tragedy and regional organizations that worked to help provide services at the frontlines of the coronavirus outbreak.

In addition, Jeanne served as a key member of the Miami Valley Long-Term Community Disaster Recovery Network, a collaboration of community partners led by the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, to provide individual and household tornado recovery. The innovative approach they implemented now is being replicated in other communities across the nation. Jeanne also volunteered with the Miami Valley TREEcovery Campaign, a coalition of local, regional and national partners that planted hundreds of trees free of charge at homes affected by the 2019 tornadoes. However, her volunteerism has most notably been shown through her long-term appointment as a member and chair of the Dayton Metro Library Board of Trustees, overseeing 17 new, state-of-the-art library rebuilds. Her devotion to the library’s and community’s growing needs has helped the Board achieve much success in its goal of creating opportunity and outreach for all.
